I purchased this feeder with the cage insert, and love it! Unfortunately, this year, the squirrels have discovered how to open the top.
I reached out to Erva's support staff, and while they said they don't currently have anything to secure the top down, they are testing out releasable cable ties as a short term fix. They were kind enough to send me a package of them for free, and I'm happy to report, they work!
Holds less than one third cup of mealworms. Constantly needs to be refilled. Starlings can't eat the mealworms but that doesn't stop them from trying. They constantly flutter around the cage scaring away the bluebirds.
The glass container is too small
We love our mealworm feeder. The starlings can't get in, but eat the mealworms around the perimeter. Unfortunately, it does not keep the sparrows out. I do wish we had a larger cup for it. Is there one available?
Starlings are still trying but I think they can’t get shy
